Fast forward to my life now, I have experienced luxuries I could never have dreamed of back then. After earning a cosmetology license and working my way through college, I headed out to California to pursue an acting career. I’ve been very fortunate to achieve success in the entertainment industry where I have worked with top makeup artists, hairstylists and skin care professionals. My career has also allowed me to travel from one end of the globe to the other, from the Himalayas to the Hawaii Islands to Kyoto. The love for the field of cosmetology has never left me, but in every place I have traveled the issue of plastic waste in beauty products persists. So that brings me to Hines+Young.

One thing most beauty products have in common is that they come in single use plastic packaging. Hines+Young has partnered with our friends at Waterkeeper Alliance, a non-profit organization that fights for clean water around the world. Plastic waste in the beauty industry is one of the highest contributors to plastic pollution in the world and yet I love beauty and skin care products! With this in mind, my daughter Cat and I have launched Hines+Young to explore new ways to feel good without contributing to the problem of plastics.

Cat and I have had amazing conversations about sustainability, making high-end products accessible to more people and about what matters to her generation. We’ve made this a family affair, with my sister, Becky, and my brother, Mike, joining the team to build the company with us. We’ve found formulators who share our commitment to clean beauty. Our products are made from exceptional, natural ingredients and are packaged in recyclable glass and aluminum. With our products you’ll find fragrances inspired by my favorite places from across the world. I’ve had so much fun working with my family and our scientists to come up with the perfect self-care line and we can’t wait to share it with you, so we can all feel good about feeling good.
